  5. ria :

i was actually amazed with the fact that there are still people who are so devoted to the way of the cross. So what i did is to use it as my topic in my research paper in my major class as a religious education student. I find it very interesting. Hope that more people would find the way of the cross powerful and rewarding in their lives as they embrace this devotion.

  8. Caroline :

I had never done The Way of The Cross, even though I call myself a Catholic. It has really moved me, I believe that everything that is happening is very challenging and nothing is certain anymore. Everyday is a leap of Faith because you just do not know what today will bring. But one thing is sure, God definitely exists, I see Him in people I meet everyday. There is so much suffering and I feel the pain of others, I can see it etched on their faces & their body language. I know what it is like to be depressed and anxious, I have suffered since my early teens. I am everyday spending time doing good deeds, I believe if we all did this in our lives, there would be so much healing in the world.

  9. From the USA :

Since we do not have actual stations in our church we sat in a group and took turns reading the opening passage, and the whole group read the prayer. It was a powerful and moving experience for all. Thank you for posting it.

God works in mysterious ways. I found this link on a Finnish discussion board, and after suffering a loss this prayer was just what I needed.

  11. An Irish message :

I hope this continues to be available to churches and other Christian organizations after Easter. It has been so encouraging to read of the environmental angle this way and to see the Church being relevant. I have mentioned the site to others who have also been impressed and grateful because it is about now, not just history.

  13. From Canada :

What a powerful experience of prayer! It helped me to reflect on my own life and how I can increase my concern for others and the world - that I truly can make a difference and connect with the suffering of the world. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if teachers shared this with young people?

  14. A message from the Philippines :

I realize that I am self-absorbed. With these stations, I promise to do better. I come from a poor country, and forests and marine ecosystems are being destroyed just to get easy money. Sometimes it’s not even the very poor who do this, it’s those with means who are greedy and uncaring. I often wonder why life still is so difficult and there is evil more than ever. I struggle with this a lot, and just trust that God knows best and ultimately, good will prevail, even if I may not be around anymore.

  15. A visitor from Australia :

The Kenyan Way of the Cross has made me realise how spolt and pampered my lifestyle is at the cost of others. It is very easy to turn away when something unpleasant appears on the TV regarding our African brothers and sisters. Please God, speak directly into my heart when I want to turn away from the troubles of others.

  16. An English note :

Beautiful pictures, and meaningful words express this ‘via Crucis’ for our times and to Journey with Jesus . Heartfelt thanks to those who placed it here …

  17. From Canada :

The way of the Cross was so touching and made me realize how people suffer in other parts of the world. I just want to say thank you for such lovely reading.

  18. A message from Illinois :

Thank you for this opportunity to meditate on Our Lord. The Kenyan Stations touched my heart. They spoke of the injustice that continues in the world, an injustice that the Bible continuously demands we right. The mixture of the traditional and modern clothing shows us that Jesus is beyond past, present and future
but rather is constantly the now. We are emphatically reminded that we here in 2009 are also his followers, that we accompany him to Calvary, that he both dies for us and rises for us. We are Resurrection people.

  19. A message from New York :

I have done the stations of the cross over the years since childhood, in many different churches. One done in an outdoor garden at a retreat house was very beautiful. However this is the first time the words and pictures accompanying the stations have brought me to tears. After a bit I just let them roll down my cheeks as the meaning of each station then and now reached me. Thank you for this.

  20. Thanks from Canada :

What a magnificent work put together in this sacred space. I loved to see Jesus in a black skin other than the usual one, makes me remember that God doesn’t have any skin colour, we all are the same and Jesus can be any person or could be from any nation too.

  21. A comment from the UK :

I have visited the way of the cross a few times. This time I copied some of the words. As someone on a cancer journey experiencing some pain at this time, I found the words very helpful to me. It helped me find a new perspective. Thanks to the Jesuits and Trócaire.

  22. A Maine visitor :

Very, very powerful and to the point, It makes me squirm , as well it might. Especially powerful in our context of racial contention, blindness and distortion. I kept thinking of the African refugees and African-Americans

  23. A message from New York :

I was very moved by this year’s Stations of the Cross. I do believe it took courage from Sacred Space to change from the usual. It has brought a good awareness for all of us.

  24. A message from Ireland :

[My reaction is] fear/unhappiness that I am not yet ready to face the reality of my responsibilities (and time is getting short for me). Courage is the greatest personal quality and the one most wanting in many of us.

  27. An Australian visitor remarks :

I use Sacred Space as part of my prayer every day. This Stations of the Cross moved me very deeply on this Good Friday as it is so relevant to what is happening in our world today to so many groups and individual lives of persons. One feels helpless before such suffering, hunger and pain in our world but prayer such as these Stations increases compassion within our hearts and we can hold these persons in our prayer each day. Keep up your good work.

  28. A message from California :

Thank you so much for the Stations of the Cross that are on your Lent page. I have spent this Lent in praying the news; finding my connection to and the perspective of Jesus in the world’s events, and your Stations are the perfect culmination of my time. Your site is always a blessing to me!

  29. A comment from California :

Thank you for the beautiful rendition of the Stations of the Cross. The art work was wonderful! The paintings from the cathedral in Kenya, helped me to look at the traditional observance in a new way. It was fresh and it touched me very profoundly. It brought the Stations into our time and gave them new meaning. What a great way to make this Holy Week so relevant!

  30. An Australian comment :

A very different view of the Stations of the Cross, and very confronting images for an ‘old Irish Catholic’. With so much emphasis on climate change, I at times thought I was reading an advert. from the ‘greens’! but I still got the message and realised it was ‘LOVE GOD AND LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR.’ Thank you for expanding my education this Easter.

  31. A message from California :

That was powerful. I was moved to tears as I contemplated how little I was doing in my life to help those affected by my over-consumption and life style. Thank you for the reminder.

These are truly appropriate and effective. I would like to use it during our three-hour Good Friday Vigil.

  34. A message from Illinois :

Thank you for the Way of the Cross. I was feeling sorry for myself and decided to pray the stations. Your interpretation brought me back to my childhood resolutions of being environmentally friendly as a way of being Christian. Thanks for the reminder of that resolution so long ago forgotten.

  35. A comment from New York :

This is a very thought provoking “Way of the Cross.” The world has become a global village, hence the need to see the sufferings of others. Selfishness and inaction only add to the weight of the already heavy cross of those afflicted by natural disasters. AIDS, Malaria, War, and other disasters are other serious crosses that call for a Simon of Cyrene. If you’re a Simon, please stand up to be counted. Help Jesus Christ to carry this cross.
