Daily Prayer - 2012-11-22

Presence

"I stand at the door and knock," says the Lord.
What a wonderful privilege
that the Lord of all creation desires to come to me.
I welcome His presence.

Freedom

Lord, you created me to live in freedom.
Mostly I take this gift for granted.
Inspire me to live in the freedom you intended,
with a heart untroubled and with complete trust in You.

Consciousness

At this moment Lord I turn my thoughts to You.  I will leave aside my chores and preoccupations.  I will take rest and refreshment in your presence Lord.

The Word of God

Luke 19:41-44

As Jesus
came near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, 'If you, even you, had
only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are
hidden from your eyes.’

Some thoughts on today's scripture

Active
Default
  • Jesus weeps over Jerusalem as a mother weeps over her child. Jesus’ heart was full, shortly before this, he had experienced the great welcome of the people and had made a triumphant entry in Jerusalem. But the people had no idea of what lay ahead…
  • Jesus, who was there to help you carry your burdens? Who was there in moments of sadness or loneliness? Yet you are so near to us just waiting for us to call on you to comfort us in the darkness moments of our lives. Thank you for your great love for us.

Conversation

How has God's Word moved me? Has it left me cold?

Has it consoled me or moved me to act in a new way?

I imagine Jesus standing or sitting beside me,

I turn and  share my feelings with
him.

Conclusion

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen
